| It feels like December can't come soon enough - yet, I still don't have a job for January 2008... so. AHH! But God is so good. He gave me a wonderful husband who made us a super delicious dinner today! hooray! Where oh where will God lead us for June 2008? | | |
| Is this the MOST fascinating thing you've ever read!?!?! Extreme Makeover wow!!!! | | |
| Sweet like Sugar! (more new pics of her here...http://unt.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2135896&l=c7d84&id=23920832 ) Life is such a gift from God. Sugar is doing great! I was so worried about her at first because she was throwing up & sleeping all day, but now she is back to normal and is as sweet as can be. I have also definitely realized I am not ready for kids just yet! Sugar is just a little puppy, she's only 2 months and 11 days old, and she needs almost constant care. I have to watch EVERYTHING that she does... she gets into EVERYTHING and will eat ANYTHING she finds. She thought she had found a great toy to carry around in her mouth when she found a big broken shard of glass in the corner of the backyard. Just like we put in our "mouths" things that we think are great - - - when all along, God knows it's "broken glass" that will cut up our mouths and potentially destroy us from within. (I got the broken glass from her right away so she didn't even get any cuts, but it sure scared me straight to death... ) But she is just so affectionate & sweet, her little sweet face when she cocks her little tiny head to the side, she just makes our hearts melt! Elton has so much fun playing with her & is so good about helping me with her potty training when he's not at work. And every night the amounts of times she needs to go out to go potty goes down.... Last night we put her to bed around 11:00 and she didn't need to go again until 5:30! Isn't that awesome!!! YEAH it IS!!! Also, Elton & I had our FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!! Friday we celebrated the love God has put in our hearts for each other for the past five years, growing us closer together, deeper in intimacy, and showing us more about Himself through all our life experiences. Man, this is so funny, Elton bought a cheap little remote control racecar to play with Sugar & she is absolutely hilarious chasing it all over the living room! lol... I wish everyone could see this!!! Lots of love to all of you, Jesus loves you!!! The most wonderful verse I came across the other night... "How puny in His sight is the strength of a man. But His joy is in those who reverence Him, those who expect Him to be loving and kind." Psalm 147:10-11 The Living Bible And He IS loving and kind. | | |
| YAY!!! God is so amazing!!! Our new puppy!!!!
We adopted her from Operation Kindness (http://www.operationkindness.org/ ) an awesome shelter in Carrollton!!! She is so precious! She is just about 3 months (she looks a lot bigger in this picture because she was much closer to the camera, she's only about 15 lbs at the most right now) but God just made her the most precious little puppy in the whole world!!! She is a hugger!!! The first time I picked her up, she wrapped her little puppy arms around my neck!!! Isn't that the sweetest thing the the whole world?!?!? Our adoption counselor told us that she was transferred just 2 hours before we got there from another "agency" that was going to put her and her brothers & sisters down because they didn't have enough room at their "agency"!! Can you believe that?!?! God does such amazing rescues! We prayed and prayed for the right dog for us. God always knows what He's doing!!! It is so peace-bringing to know that we can always trust Him. So, she is being spayed right now (Operation Kindness doesn't let them leave without being spayed or neutered) but I will get to pick her up tomorrow afternoon!!! YAY! We are so excited! We've been doing all kinds of preparations for her to be here, it's really exciting! Plus, they gave us this really great DVD and all these resources about training, teething, puppy behavior, mouthing, crating, etc. We've already bought her so many toys, I'm just way too excited!!! AND God made a way for us to figure out how to make payments for a new car for Elton (since his died in a major way & got TWO flat tires in the SAME day!!!) --I think that's God telling him, "hey, this isn't safe to drive anymore..." --hehehehe... AND God gave Elton the wisdom to rent a 100 sewer snake from Home Depot for only $40, and then he got on the roof & ran it through our pipes & so it appears that our plumbing problems have been solved!!! HOORAY!!! (We've run an empty cycle on the washer & this time it didn't leak through the wall -the snake got out A LOT of dirt & buildup from the pipes- ...but... we still have to run an actual full load of laundry before we know we are home-free. But we've been praying and praying that God will intervene & solve our situation & help us to trust Him, and I know that no matter what, He has our best interests & His glory in mind. Anyway, I will put up TONS more pictures when I get to pick her up tomorrow!!! Thank you Jesus for puppies!!!! | | |
| 5 new tomato plants occupy one of my garden boxes! I planted 5 herbs (including catnip! yay! ) and a red bell pepper plant & transplanted our green bell pepper plant! Elton finished making the garden boxes & filled them with wonderful organic soil! They are just lovely. I strategically put some earthworm castings around the roots and stems of each plant... I watered & fed them all... it's all very exciting, but you know what I have come to realize very concretely...? None of it will matter if it's not God's will for them to grow. All of it will be for nothing if God does not bless those little garden boxes. Just like Paul says about ministering to unbelievers... we can plant & we can water, but only God can make it grow. It is strangly sad & inspiring at the same time. It's sad because that means all my effort & hope for this little garden can be destroyed in a moment of storm. But it's also inspiring - because that means so far, God has orchestrated every individual factor that has led these plants to make it so far... just the right amount of sun & water, disease resistance up to this point, and lack of natural distasters that would make them into mush. Anyway, if they are destroyed, I'm sure it;s probably something like God keeping us from eating some posinous bug or discovering for the last time that we are allergic to a certain tomato/herb... etc. etc. God always knows what He's doing. (Although it would be sad, I'm not gonna lie) Also, we had some sort of leak in our plumbing that led to our garage to have water in it... It will be very expensive to fix, even with the house under warranty (those things are such a scam) so Elton is trying to work on it himself first. Of course, we just had to pray that God would intervene in a way only He can. This morning the garage was dry! I don't know if that means it's fixed, or just fixed for a time, or what, but I am running a load of laundry (where the problem first began) and we will see afterwards... But if you have an extra moment, please remember us in your prayers. God is a mighty God & He is the One who really controls all water and plumbing. And Elton's car broke down, so we also need to pray that God will be God and help us trust in Him for everything. In our Bible study guide last night it asked, "When was the last time you had to completely depend on God to get you out of a situation?" And we looked at each other and we're like, well - now. With the car & the plumbing, only God knows & only God is powerful enough to do the supernatural. And even if He doesn't do what we think is the right answer, He's still God and He can do whatever He wants to do & I'm sure it will be for our good & His glory in the end (that's what He's promised) On a side note, I miss my friends now that I am all the way out in Rowlett & everyone else is far away! | | |
